Mikkeli Music Festival presents Classics with Emma and Tuula

In the concert "Classics with Emma and Tuula," legendary female characters from opera literature, Finnish solo song classics, and masterpieces from musicals are explored. The recital features music by, among others, Puccini, Sibelius, and Lloyd Webber.

Soprano Emma Kajander has emerged in recent years as a promising new talent in the world of singing. Kajander won the 2025 Lappeenranta Singing Competition and the Nordic 2023 Havets Röst competition. She also debuted in 2024 at the Finnish National Opera in the role of Christine Daaé in The Phantom of the Opera.

Joining Kajander is master of vocal music, pianist Tuula Hällström, with whom Kajander also performed in Lappeenranta. Hällström has guided countless singers into professional careers at the Sibelius Academy and is one of the most sought-after performing pianists in the country. Hällström has recorded with, among others, Mari Palo, Waltteri Torikka, Eija Ahvo, and Juho Punkeri.
