Silence Festival celebrates its 15th anniversary!

For 15 years, Silence Festival has been a unique meeting point for music, contemporary circus, and the breathtaking nature of Lapland. This year, we mark this milestone with a diverse and surprising program, featuring world premieres, captivating circus performances, and extraordinary musical experiences from both Finnish and international artists.

Festival highlights for 2025:

Oodi sinulle [veljeni] – A commissioned anniversary piece directed by Silence Festival’s Artistic Director, Karita Tikka

Awake Percussion: Ilimaq – A pulsating percussion concert at Ojanperä Hall

Garden Concert: Signe – A dreamlike vocal ensemble performance in Kaukonen’s greenhouse

Lapin Faarao – A theatrical and musical interpretation of Reidar Särestöniemi’s life and art by director Kristian Smeds, actor Hannu-Pekka Björkman, and musician Verneri Pohjola

On Sunday, June 8, we celebrate the 100th anniversary of Reidar Särestöniemi.

This year, the festival culminates at Särestöniemi Museum with a special festival day dedicated to the legacy of Reidar Särestöniemi. The program features unique performances where art, music, and space merge into a tribute to his life and work.

Silence Festival is organized by the Silence Artists’ Association, based in Kittilä. Performances take place in various venues throughout the village, including homes, halls, barns, and pirtis. The festival’s ticket sales, café, bar, and info desk are located at Kaukonen Community House.

Getting to the festival is easy by train and bus, by plane, or by car. The nearest bus stop is approximately 1 km from the Community House.
