Attraction
Lake Sääksjärvi was formed by the impact of a meteorite that struck the Earth around 600 million years ago. The lake drains into the Kokemäenjoki River via the Kauvatsanjoki River. Along its shores, you can enjoy recreational opportunities such as swimming beaches and boat launch sites.
The Sääksjärvi trail, well known to cross-country skiers, can also be enjoyed in the summer by canoeing or hiking along the western part of the lake. There are several lean-to shelters with campfire spots around the Sääksjärvi area, perfect for picnic breaks. The main hub at the Salonpää area also has toilet facilities.
