At the buildings and yards located on the Oulujoki River islands, you can explore traditional skills, beliefs and livelihoods: farming, salmon fishing, tar burning, logging and log floating. The Ylikärppä House’s yard takes you into the atmosphere of 1900s farmer life. The Parttuainen Logging Bunkhouse introduces you to the post-war period and the everyday life of logging workers. The island is filled to the brim with stories worth remembering.
The summer in Turkansaari is full of different events. The annual programme includes a Midsummer party, a traditional weekend in July, and the Muksut museossa days for children held throughout the summer.
